I have selected the e-learning module designed as part of EDCI 569 as the artifact to demonstrate how I selected an instructional design process based on the nature of the project. I have selected this artifact because the development of this module is a good example of how an ID process is put into practice
This competence is important because based on the nature of a project, it is important to design which ID process will be useful. A project with quick turnaround times might involve rapid prototyping while a project in the education domain might benefit from the Dick and Carey model. Examples of how this artifact demonstrates this competency include the following: The goal of the e-learning module was to develop learning resources for parents at an elementary school. With a small team of stakeholders, the ADDIE model worked well to conduct preliminary learner analysis, prepare the design document the storyboard, and then develop and implement the project.
My previous background knowledge in various ID processes helped me navigate the process of selecting a relevant process based on the project needs.
My e-learning module worked as an appropriate artifact for this challenge because the process involved doing a learner analysis, developing a detailed design document and storyboard, developing the module on Articulate Rise, implementing by hosting on a web server and evaluating with sample target audience.
Some important things I learned while earning this challenge include understanding how to map ID processes to project needs and requirements. In the future, I will apply this skill for all ID projects, by determining in advance which process will be best suited for each project.
