Reflection
I have selected my Design Document for the Digital Multimeter Project as the artifact to demonstrate how I determined subordinate and pre-requisite skills and knowledge to achieve the final goal. I have selected this artifact because creation of the Goal Analysis Diagram is an important piece in the initial phase of the project and it clearly depicts how these skills were determined.
This competence is important because it is important to break down the main goal into smaller, reasonable and achievable components. Examples of how this artifact demonstrates this competency include the following:
Goal analysis involved determining main steps needed to achieve the final goal
Goal analysis involved sequencing the main steps and classifying them into appropriate learning domains
Subordinate skills analysis involved hierarchical and cluster analysis to determine the stages learners needed to complete to achieve each main step
Entry skills were determined through learner analysis
My previous knowledge in systems design and adopting a systematic approach to solve problems helped me navigate the Goal Analysis phase successfully. Having a clear idea of diagramming and a strong sense of visual design also helped create a 1-page diagram.
My Design Document for the Digital Multimeter Project worked as an appropriate artifact for the Subordinate and Pre-requisite skills challenge because it clearly and concisely documents every step of this process. Some important things I learned while earning this challenge include acquiring knowledge of learning domains, and the etiquette of diagramming a flow chart. In the future, I will further develop this competency by clearly documenting details gathered and getting stakeholder input in this phase of the project.

Criteria for successful completion of this challenge: Evidence of utilizing validation techniques (checking the source, researching the author - education, experience, reputation, how many times cited, etc.).

Reflection
I have selected my Small Scale Literature Review Paper as the artifact to demonstrate how I analyzed various types of sources to validate content. I have selected this artifact because writing this literature review paper involved gathering information from more than ten research papers and resources.
This competence is important because it has helped me understand the importance of gathering reliable information from a variety of sources. Examples of how this artifact demonstrates this competency include the following: Khan, S. (2011)’s video helped me get a baseline idea about the topic of flipped classrooms. I obtained further information on Flipped classrooms in STEM, from papers such as Lee, L. H., & Yeung, Y. Y. (2021) and Lai, C.-L., & Hwang, G.-J. (2016). I used resources such as Al-Abdullatif, A. M. (2020) and Lee, L.-H. (2025) to learn more about self-regulated learning in the flipped classroom model.
My previous knowledge in referring to research papers helped me navigate this competency confidently. Strong reading and critical thinking skills additionally helped me further develop this competency. Some techniques I used include the following: searched the web to cross-check claims instead of only evaluating a single resource, examined the author's credentials, and read what other experts said about the source.
My Small Scale Literature Review paper worked as an appropriate artifact for the Analysis Techniques for Instruction challenge because of the extensive information gathering from various valid resources. Some important things I learned while earning this challenge include checking sources and researching the author. In the future, I will use skills learned in the analysis of sources to write larger research papers and documents.
